CURRICULUM

Curriculum is defined as a "course of study".

We follow a typical course of study in terms of concepts and skills within each subject and the order in which they are covered in each level.

THINKING, COMMUNICATION, MASTERY

Our emphasis is on thinking skills, communication, and mastery.  In choosing activities and resources, we prioritize those that are interactive and teachers present material in ways that are relevant to students according to their stage of development.  We encourage students to think, discuss, and practice as they learn, making knowledge and understanding their own prior to moving forward.  Our unique program also avoids informational gaps by providing regular exposure to vocabulary and concepts that are age-typical for each learning group.

PHILOSOPHY / PUBLISHER

To answer those that want to know specific publishers or philosophies, the short answer is that our teachers are skilled in teaching their subject area and are the source of knowledge for each class.  They seek out the best resource or activity to support the course of study with high interest activities, reading materials, and assignments and use the best teaching method to reach the particular group of individuals they currently teach.

If you are concerned about a specific issue with curriculum or philosophy, we are available to answer all of your questions to your level of comfort in making the best decision for your family in terms of choosing LIFT or another option for your child/ren.

You can see our Curriculum details here.

CHARACTER & GROWTH

In looking at each student as a whole person, we take into account their stage of development, learning style, interests, and talents while we prepare lessons with the goal of mastery and individual progress.

We also support our families in guiding students as they mature and we view building character and learning life skills as sharing value with academics and, in some cases even more important than knowledge.
